U.S. News, Princeton Review Name Huntingdon Among Top Regional Colleges

Montgomery, Ala.— Huntingdon College is once again listed among the top ten Best Values and among the  top ten Regional Colleges with the publication of the 2024 U.S. News and World Report “America’s Best Colleges” college guide, released earlier today. The College is listed among the top 10 Regional Colleges-South and among the top 10 Best Values in Regional Colleges-South.

Earlier this month, Huntingdon College was notified of inclusion by the Princeton Review in their latest edition of “The Best Colleges: Region by Region” as a Best Regional College-South.

U.S. News rankings evaluate colleges and universities on various measures of academic quality, including subjective peer institution and guidance counselor assessment scores as well as objective data. The Princeton Review chooses 630 colleges without regard to size or control divided in seven geographic zones, and uses student evaluations and comments to illustrate the experience at each college.

“It is always gratifying when outside evaluators see and help us share the excellence we know as Huntingdon College,” said Huntingdon President J. Cameron West. “The Best Value ranking is particularly important because we strive to keep the cost of attendance as low as possible while providing personalized service and unique value-added benefits for students. We believe that every student should have equal access to the tools and experiences that optimize learning and that are important for academic and professional success.”

Huntingdon provides a laptop computer, books and learning resources, a focus on calling and ethics, hands-on learning experiences, small classes  and a “Know and Be Known” atmosphere for every full-time day student—all within regular tuition and fees. Because no other colleges provide these value-added measures in total, they are not factored in the college ranking process. “As I’ve said before, Huntingdon is in a class by itself with regard to value,” said President West.

Huntingdon is also included on the U.S. News and World Report Social Mobility list, which measures the College’s success at enrolling and graduating students who are from the most challenging socioeconomic circumstances—as determined by qualifying to receive the Federal Pell Grant—in comparison with the overall graduation rate.

Huntingdon’s inclusion among the colleges selected by the Princeton Review in their Best Colleges: Region by Region (South) follows a long tradition of recognition in this publication.  “The Princeton Review list conveys the spirit of camaraderie and closeness students who are part of what we call the Huntingdon Village share,” said Huntingdon senior vice president for student and institutional development and dean of students Dr. Anthony Leigh. “Since more than eighty percent of our student body live in College housing and the other twenty percent are commuters who live nearby, Huntingdon students form a family bond unlike any I’ve seen at another college.”
